Zayd ibn Arqam رضي الله عنه — "O Zaid! Allah confirmed your statement"
Zayd ibn Arqam رضي الله عنه was a young man when he heard something on an expedition that he knew the Prophet ﷺ needed to know — words spoken by Abdullah ibn Ubayy.
He heard Abdullah ibn Ubayy saying:
"Don't spend on those who are with Allah's Messenger, that they may disperse and go away from him. If we return (to Medina), surely, the more honorable will expel the meaner amongst them."
> «لاَ تُنْفِقُوا عَلَى مَنْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ حَتَّى يَنْفَضُّوا مِنْ حَوْلِهِ»
Zayd reported that saying to his uncle — or to Umar — who, in his turn, informed the Prophet ﷺ of it.
The Prophet ﷺ called Zayd, and he narrated to him the whole story.
Then Allah's Messenger ﷺ sent for Abdullah ibn Ubayy and his companions — and they took an oath that they did not say that.
"So Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) disbelieved my saying and believed his."
Zayd had told the exact truth. And the outward judgement had gone against him, because the other side had sworn oaths.
"I was distressed as I never was before."
He stayed at home. And his uncle said to him: "You just wanted Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) to disbelieve your statement and hate you."
A young man, truthful, alone at home with his grief — believing he might have lost the regard of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ himself.
Then Allah revealed the Surah beginning with: "When the hypocrites come to you." (63.1)
> «إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ»
The Prophet ﷺ then sent for Zayd, and recited it to him, and said:
> «إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ صَدَّقَكَ يَا زَيْدُ»
"O Zaid! Allah confirmed your statement."

🌿 Stop and Think About This Scene
Zayd did everything right. He heard a danger to the Prophet ﷺ and the community, and he reported it truthfully and immediately.
And still, the visible outcome went against him — oaths were sworn, and his word was the one set aside. He went home carrying a distress he said he had never felt before.
The truth does not always win in the first hearing. Zayd's story is what a truthful person does in the days between: he grieves, he stays patient — and he does not take his word back.

❤️ The Greatest Lesson
The confirmation Zayd received did not come from a bigger oath or a louder voice. It came from heaven: "O Zaid! Allah confirmed your statement." A believer's truthfulness may be doubted by people for a while, but it is witnessed by Allah — and His confirmation is the one that lasts.

📚 Important Lessons From This Hadith
1. Zayd treated the hypocrite's words as a trust to carry, not gossip to spread: he reported them to his uncle or to Umar, who informed the Prophet ﷺ.
2. The Prophet ﷺ judged by what was outwardly established — the denials came backed by oaths, "and they took an oath that they did not say that."
3. Being disbelieved while truthful is one of the heaviest tests: "I was distressed as I never was before."
4. Zayd did not retract the truth under pressure, even when his own uncle rebuked him.
5. Allah Himself settled the matter by revelation — Surah al-Munafiqun (63) opens by exposing the hypocrites, and the Prophet ﷺ recited it to Zayd himself: "Allah confirmed your statement."

🏠 How Can We Apply This Hadith in Our Daily Lives?
Sometimes we report the truth — at work, in the family, in the community — and the person with more influence, more confidence, or more oaths is believed instead. Zayd's story gives us the response: do not exaggerate to win, do not take back what is true, and do not despair. Carry the matter with patience, and leave the final confirmation to Allah, whose knowledge does not depend on witnesses.

🌹 The Most Beautiful Message
A young Companion sat at home in a grief he had never known, fearing he had lost his place with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then revelation descended — and the Prophet ﷺ sent for him, recited it to him with his own voice, and told him: Allah has confirmed your statement. Truth told quietly had been heard in the highest place.
