🌙 Basic Islamic Knowledge for Kids

The building blocks of our beautiful religion, explained in a simple way. Learn them one at a time, and you'll understand what every Muslim believes!

🕋 The Five Pillars of Islam
The five most important actions every Muslim tries to do
1💬

Shahadah - The Declaration of Faith

Saying and believing with your heart: "There is no god worthy of worship except Allah, and Muhammad (SAW) is His Messenger." This is the very first step into Islam - the key that opens the door!

2🕌

Salah - The Five Daily Prayers

Muslims talk to Allah five times a day: Fajr (dawn), Dhuhr (midday), Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (sunset), and Isha (night). It's like checking in with your best friend throughout the whole day!

3💰

Zakah - Giving to Those in Need

Muslims who have enough money give a small share (2.5%) of their savings each year to help poor people. It's Allah's way of making sure everyone is cared for and wealth is shared.

4🌙

Sawm - Fasting in Ramadan

For one whole month every year, Muslims who are healthy and grown-up don't eat or drink from sunrise to sunset. It teaches patience, self-control, and what it feels like to be hungry like those less fortunate.

5🕋

Hajj - The Pilgrimage to Makkah

Once in their life, if they are able, every Muslim should travel to the Ka'bah in Makkah to perform special rituals that Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Muhammad (SAW) taught us.

✨ The Six Articles of Faith
The six things every Muslim believes in their heart
☝️

Belief in Allah

The One and Only God, who created everything - the stars, the oceans, you, and me. He has no partner and needs nothing from anyone.

👼

Belief in the Angels

Beautiful beings made of light, created to obey Allah perfectly. Jibreel (AS) brought revelation to the Prophets, and every person has angels recording their good and bad deeds.

📖

Belief in the Holy Books

Allah sent down books of guidance, including the Tawrah to Musa (AS), the Injil to Isa (AS), and the Qur'an to Muhammad (SAW) - the final, complete, and perfectly preserved book.

🌟

Belief in the Prophets

Allah sent many Prophets - Adam, Nuh, Ibrahim, Musa, Isa, and finally Muhammad (peace be upon them all) - to guide people toward the right path.

⏳

Belief in the Day of Judgment

One day, this world will end, and everyone who ever lived will be brought back to answer for what they did. Good deeds will be rewarded with Paradise, in sha Allah!

📜

Belief in Divine Decree (Qadar)

Allah knows everything that will ever happen, and everything happens with His permission and wisdom - even the things we don't understand yet.

🕌 How to Pray Salah (Step by Step)
Every rak'ah follows this beautiful pattern - practice it until you know it by heart!
1

Stand Facing the Qiblah

Stand up straight facing the direction of the Ka'bah in Makkah, and make your intention in your heart for which prayer you are performing.

2

Takbir - Raise Your Hands

Raise both hands up to your ears (or shoulders) and say "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest). Now you have entered the prayer!

3

Place Hands and Recite

Place your right hand over your left on your chest. Recite Surah Al-Fatihah, then any other surah you know (like Al-Ikhlas).

4

Ruku - Bow Down

Say "Allahu Akbar" and bow with your back straight and hands on your knees. Say "Subhana Rabbiyal Adheem" three times.

Rise up saying "Sami Allahu liman hamidah" then "Rabbana wa lakal hamd" while standing straight.

6

Sujood - Prostrate

Say "Allahu Akbar" and go down into sujood, touching the ground with seven parts: forehead and nose, two hands, two knees, and toes of both feet. Say "Subhana Rabbiyal A'la" three times.

7

Sit Up Briefly

Say "Allahu Akbar" and sit up on your knees for a moment, saying "Rabbighfir lee" (My Lord, forgive me).

8

Second Sujood

Say "Allahu Akbar" and prostrate again the same way, saying "Subhana Rabbiyal A'la" three times. You have now completed one rak'ah!

9
