Chapter 14 “Certainly you will follow the ways of those who were before you.”
باب قَوْلِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لَتَتْبَعُنَّ سَنَنَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ "
Sahih al-Bukhari 7320
Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri:
The Prophet said, “You will follow the ways of those nations who were before you, span by span and
cubit by cubit (i.e., inch by inch) so much so that even if they entered a hole of a mastigure, you
would follow them.” We said, “O Allah’s Apostle! (Do you mean) the Jews and the Christians?” He
said, “Whom else?”
[prematn]حَدَّثَنَا [narrator id=”7081″ role=”first” tooltip=”محمد بن عبد العزيز الرملي”]مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ[/narrator]، حَدَّثَنَا [narrator id=”2450″ role=”chain” tooltip=”حفص بن ميسرة العقيلي”]أَبُو عُمَرَ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ[/narrator] ـ مِنَ [place]الْيَمَنِ ـ [/place]عَنْ [narrator id=”3122″ role=”chain” tooltip=”زيد بن أسلم القرشي”]زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ[/narrator]، عَنْ [narrator id=”5640″ role=”chain” tooltip=”عطاء بن يسار الهلالي”]عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ[/narrator]، عَنْ [narrator id=”3260″ role=”sahabi” tooltip=”أبو سعيد الخدري”]أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ[/narrator]، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ” [/prematn][matn]لَتَتْبَعُنَّ سَنَنَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ شِبْرًا شِبْرًا وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ، حَتَّى لَوْ دَخَلُوا جُحْرَ ضَبٍّ تَبِعْتُمُوهُمْ ”. قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الْيَهُودُ [name role=”people_of_book”]وَالنَّصَارَى [/name]قَالَ ” فَمَنْ ”[/matn].
