Hail Water
Hail Water
Hail water (Māʾ al-Barad)
Ruling (Ḥukm): Hail, once melted into water, carries the same ruling as melted snow: ṭāhir and muṭahhir, valid for wuḍūʾ and ghusl. As with snow, the solid hailstone itself is not used directly to wash a limb; it must first turn to liquid water so that actual washing (ghasl) takes place.
The waters with which purification (ṭahārah) is valid are seven: (1) sky/rain water, (2) sea water, (3) river water, (4) well water, (5–6) melted snow water and hail water, (7) spring water.
