Istinja with Stones, Tissue, etc.

It is permissible to perform istinja using stones, lumps of earth, tissue paper, and other similar clean and pure materials that are capable of removing impurity. If the impurity has spread only within its normal place and is equal to or less than the amount of one dirham, it is sufficient to perform istinja using only tissue paper, stones, or lumps of earth, and washing with water is not necessary. However, performing istinja with water after using tissue or stones is preferable and better. If the impurity spreads beyond its normal place by more than the amount of one dirham, then it is necessary to wash the affected area with water; removing it with only tissue paper or stones is not sufficient.
