Turning the head right and left for "Hayya 'ala"
Bilal (RA) would turn his head to the right when saying "Hayya 'ala as-salah" and to the left when saying "Hayya 'ala al-falah," without turning his body.
Reference: Sahih Muslim, on the authority of Abu Juhayfah (RA)
Explanation
This allows the invitation to prayer and to success to reach people on both sides more directly.
