Knowing when to end an unproductive discussion

The general wisdom of avoiding excessive disputation, reflected in the Prophet's (SAW) praise for those who leave off arguing, applies to recognising when a debate has ceased to be constructive.

Reference: Derived from Sunan Abi Dawud, graded Hasan, on the authority of Abu Umamah (RA)

Explanation

Recognising the point at which continued argument only causes harm is itself a form of wisdom.
